| Ecommerce Marketing Case Study... |
| In this case study we are going to imagine we are an Ecommerce marketer who wants to find a new niche to sell physical products in. |
|
| |
| To begin we are going to search for a market by analyzing traffic volume and competition levels. Then we are going to search for 10 high volume and targeted keywords we could bid on using Google Adwords in order to drive traffic to the new website.
To begin, we login to IMeye and select the following columns - Keyword Phrase, Keyword Difficulty, Monthly Searches (Phrase Match), Advertiser Comp, Keyword Length and Ecommerce.
Then we select the following Parameters for each of the Columns, a process which takes literally 30 seconds.
| Keyword Phrase: |
|
We don't adjust this column as the keywords will 'find us' |
| Monthly Searches: |
|
Set to a Minimum of 10,000 searches a month |
| Keyword Length: |
|
Minimum of 2 words for each phrase |
| Advertiser Comp: |
|
Set to low advertiser competition. A market with low advertiser competition but high search volume is ideal |
| Ecommerce: |
|
Set to ecommerce keywords only. By doing this, IMeye will only return keywords for which physical goods are being sold - which for ecommerce, is what we want. |
After doing the above, IMeye returns 8 pages of results and after scanning through the first page we have already found a great market - (in less than a minute) "Air Tools & Compressors", with 110,000 searches a month and most likely a high margin per sale. Perfect!
You can see the screenshot from IMeye below. (I have blocked some of the results too to protect current IMeye members.)

Then, let's say we found a supplier for air tools, went ahead and set up a website to sell them and wanted to send targeted traffic to this website using Google Adwords.
Here's how we use IMeye to do the research for that...
To begin, we login to IMeye and select the following columns - Keyword Phrase, Monthly Searches (Phrase Match), AW CPC, Advertiser Comp and Keyword Length.
Then we select the following parameters for each of the Columns:
| Keyword Phrase: |
|
We would type in 'air compressors' |
| Monthly Searches: |
|
Set to a Minimum of 1000 searches a month |
| Keyword Length: |
|
Minimum of 2 words for each phrase |
| Advertiser Comp: |
|
Set to 'any'.. just for our information |
| AW CPC: |
|
In this example we wouldn't change anything although we could enter a minimum and maximum CPC if we wanted. |
After doing the above, IMeye returns the results and you can see in the image below, there are a number of very targeted keywords here. I have also left the keyword search area open so you can see an example of that.
